Giving Credit to Architectural Design Wisdom

Wisdom / ˈwizdəm/ n.

The ability to make sensible decisions and give good advice because of the experience and knowledge that you have. - Oxford Dictionary

In a recent AEC Magazine byline, Richard Harpham wrote about the ways architects’ roles are evolving to facilitate the reuse of knowledge from past projects and how thought leaders in architecture and technology are guiding this transformation.

The title of the article, A Chance to Amplify Architectural Design Wisdom, gives credit to the profession and the professionals who have invested years of dedication to the art, craft, and even science, of design. Richard shares his perspective on what innovations will truly move the industry forward.

In this sense, wisdom could be redefined further as “The distilled knowledge gained from years of both successful and unsuccessful experiences, which enables informed decision-making, fosters adaptability, and guides the pursuit of sustainable success.”

Richard has experienced most of the highs and lows of bringing disruptive technology to developers, designers, and contractors. As one of the co-founders of Skema, he’s applying his insights, expertise - and yes, wisdom - to building our company and our brand.

We believe he could have chosen to add his talents to almost any AEC tech startup, and we’re so glad he’s an integral part of our small but mighty team.

Here are two resources that can give you a window into Richard’s unique perspective.
